Charli XCX is gearing up for a substantial film onslaught in 2026, kicking off with the fictional documentary titled The Moment.
Within the project, the artist embodies what she refers to as a hell version of her public image.
It’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever witnessed, Charli stated.
She further explained in a conversation: This isn’t a concert film, however the inspiration stemmed from the expectation to produce one.
The first teaser, unveiled on recently, blends authentic footage from Charli’s Sweat tour with fictionalized behind-the-scenes moments.
The film is directed and co-written by the director, who revealed that the story focuses on a scenario where the singer made entirely different choices throughout the publicity of her smash hit album Brat.
The film is only one of numerous future screen roles for Charli, who has starred in three festival films in the current year.
Additionally appeared as herself in the humorous show Overcompensating.
Next year will also feature Charli together with Olivia Wilde in erotic drama I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in gallery suspense The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in horror remake Faces of Death.
She also signed on to feature in Dakota Johnson’s first film as director A Tree in Blue.
I’m deeply appreciating my acting journey, Charli expressed. I’m highly enthusiastic at the moment in acting, and I only ever choose to take on roles that stimulate me.
February will also see the debut of Emerald Fennell’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will include new music from the artist.
She is also set to compose the score for the film Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, scheduled for release next year.
The mockumentary will be released on 30 January.
