The President has abandoned plans for a deployment of national agents to the Bay region that had provoked broad criticism from California leaders and drawn activists pouring onto the streets.
The locale had been on edge after reports circulated that the government was prepared to send approximately 150 border control and additional officers to the US Coast Guard base in across the Bay, as part of a major immigration enforcement operation.
However, the president announced he would not proceed with a “increase” of national agents in the locale after conversing with the mayor, the mayor, and Silicon Valley leaders including tech executive and Jensen Huang.
“Through our exchange, the president informed me directly that he was canceling every proposal for a national operation in the city,” the mayor commented in a statement.
